Conrad Hong Kong Review: Is This Luxury Hotel Worth It?

If you’re looking for a five-star hotel in Hong Kong with convenient transportation, excellent shopping, and timeless elegance, Conrad Hong Kong is a strong choice. Located above Pacific Place in Admiralty, the hotel puts shopping, dining, and the MTR just steps away.

For this stay, I booked a King Bed Deluxe Peak View Room, with views of Victoria Peak’s greenery and the upscale residences of the Mid-Levels. The view was so impressive that I never once wished I had booked a room overlooking Victoria Harbour. The room had the polished feel of a classic luxury hotel, while the welcome fruit plate, signature Conrad teddy bear, and yellow rubber duck added a thoughtful and playful touch.

🏨 Conrad Hong Kong Overview

Conrad Hong Kong belongs to Hilton’s Conrad brand and occupies a 61-story building above Pacific Place in Admiralty. It is one of Hong Kong Island’s established five-star hotels, welcoming both business and leisure travelers. 

Opened in 1990 as Conrad’s first property in the Asia-Pacific region, the hotel underwent renovations in 2013, although its overall style still reflects the grandeur of 1990s luxury hotels.

The interiors lean toward classic European elegance, with extensive marble, gold tones, wood furniture, and crystal chandeliers. Together with the high-floor views and spacious public areas, they give the hotel a distinctly grand atmosphere.

Nearby Attractions

Pacific Place is directly below the hotel, bringing designer boutiques, a supermarket, and a wide choice of restaurants under one roof. Whether you want to shop, pick up a few essentials, or enjoy a meal, everything is just an elevator ride away.

Hong Kong Park is a short walk from the hotel, while the Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens and the Peak Tram Lower Terminus are also within walking distance. This part of Hong Kong Island is especially convenient for travelers who enjoy sightseeing on foot.

🛏️ Room Review: King Bed Deluxe Peak View Room

Room Features & Amenities

I stayed in a King Bed Deluxe Peak View Room, which offers approximately 430 square feet (40 square meters) of space and a practical rectangular layout.

The room has a traditional luxury-hotel feel, with cream-colored carpeting, wood furniture, and warm lighting. Although the room shows its age, it has been well maintained and felt clean throughout my stay.

📌 A marble bathroom with a separate bathtub and shower, double sinks, and a separate toilet compartment

The View

Through the large floor-to-ceiling windows, I could see the green slopes of Victoria Peak and the upscale homes of the Mid-Levels. During the day, sunlight fell across the trees and buildings, creating a wonderfully calming scene. At night, the view took on a quieter character, with city lights scattered across the hillside.

😺 Cathead’s Take

Many travelers go straight for a Victoria Harbour view when booking Conrad Hong Kong, but I deliberately chose the mountain view this time—and I had no regrets. Compared with the energy of the harbor, the Peak view offered a more relaxed feeling, almost like getting a glimpse of everyday life in the Mid-Levels.

The décor and fixtures do feel a little dated,and the ceiling is not particularly high. However, the generous room space and large windows kept it from feeling cramped.

I also appreciated the small welcome touches. A fruit plate and the signature Conrad teddy bear were waiting in the room, while the bathroom came with Conrad’s well-known yellow rubber duck. Both the bear and the duck were mine to take home, and they made lovely souvenirs from the stay. 😻

Overall, the room felt classic and comfortable rather than modern or design-focused. Although the interiors are somewhat dated, the spacious room, beautiful view, and attentive service still made the stay feel worthy of a five-star hotel.

🍽️ My Weekend Brunch Experience

Since I stayed over the weekend, I skipped breakfast at Garden Café and decided to splurge on Conrad’s well-known weekend champagne brunch instead.

Brunch Format and Dining Venue

In the past, weekend brunch was offered across Nicholini’s, Brasserie on the Eighth, and Pacific Bar, creating a dining experience that spanned all three venues on the eighth floor.

The brunch is now primarily served at Brasserie on the Eighth as “Vive le Brunch,” featuring French and continental dishes, seafood, and Champagne.

During my visit, the food selection included:

Cold appetizers: A seafood platter with lobster and chilled crab legs, smoked fish, salads, cheeses, and cold cuts

Hot dishes: Pasta, risotto, braised beef, and other continental dishes

Asian dishes: A small selection of Asian dishes

Desserts: Crème brûlée, ice cream, and fruit

The free-flow beverage selection included Perrier-Jouët Grand Brut NV Champagne, red and white wines, dessert wine, port, cocktails, and draft beer. This is the kind of brunch that invites you to savor the Champagne and take your time over the food.

Dining Area and Atmosphere

The restaurant was filled with natural light, with large windows overlooking the city and Victoria Harbour. With its high ceiling and well-spaced tables, the dining room felt open and elegant.

It would be a lovely setting for a birthday, an anniversary, or simply an afternoon of treating yourself.

🐾 Cathead’s Honest Take

The weekend brunch was enjoyable overall, with good-quality ingredients and well-prepared food. One small inconvenience was that the shells on the cold seafood had not been cracked before serving. I struggled to open a crab claw even with the scissors provided, and at one point, it slipped from my hands and nearly went flying across the table! I eventually asked a server for help, and he kindly took it back to the kitchen to have the shell opened for me.

The atmosphere struck a nice balance between lively and relaxed. There was a comfortable amount of space between tables, so we could enjoy the meal without feeling crowded.

☕ Afternoon Tea at the Conrad Hong Kong Executive Lounge

Guests staying on the Executive Floor or holding qualifying Hilton Honors status can access the Conrad Hong Kong Executive Lounge. Located on the 59th floor, the lounge overlooks Victoria Harbour and offers a light breakfast, afternoon tea, and evening cocktails.

The afternoon tea selection included:

• Scones with cream and jam
• Assorted finger sandwiches
• Cakes and bite-sized desserts
• Tea, coffee, juice, and other drinks

The afternoon tea selection was modest, but everything I tried tasted good. It was enough for a relaxed afternoon snack, and with a hot cup of tea and the Victoria Harbour view in front of me, it was easy to slow down and slip into vacation mode.

🍷 Evening Cocktails Experience

From 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., the Executive Lounge switched to its Evening Cocktails & Canapés service, which was one of my favorite parts of the stay.

Food and drinks: Alcoholic beverages, savory bites, and desserts, with a selection that varies slightly from day to day.

Atmosphere and service: The lounge was quiet and relaxed, making it a pleasant place for couples to enjoy a drink or business travelers to talk shop. Staff members regularly offered refills and cleared plates, keeping the space tidy throughout the service.

Executive Lounge

The hotel also has five restaurants and bars, offering French cuisine, traditional Cantonese dishes, buffet dining, afternoon tea, and more. If you enjoy exploring hotel restaurants, you could easily stay for several meals without having the same dining experience twice.

👍 Pros and Cons

✅ The Pros 

An exceptionally convenient location: With direct access to Pacific Place and an indoor connection to Admiralty MTR Station, the hotel makes getting around easy, whether you’re visiting for sightseeing or business.

Beautiful mountain views: While the Victoria Harbour rooms tend to receive more attention, my room’s view of Victoria Peak and the Mid-Levels was just as memorable. The greenery also gave the room a calmer, more relaxing atmosphere.

Reliable, professional service: Like many other guests, I appreciated the attentive service and high standards of cleanliness.

⚠️ Cons 

The décor shows its age: Although well maintained, the hotel has a traditional look rather than the sleek, minimalist style of many newer properties.

Room rates aren’t budget-friendly: Among Hong Kong’s five-star hotels, Conrad falls into the mid-to-upper price range. Rates can rise further during peak travel periods and major exhibitions.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Who Should Stay at Conrad Hong Kong?

Couples: If you’re celebrating an anniversary or birthday, champagne brunch or evening drinks in the Executive Lounge can make the occasion feel extra special.

Business travelers: The Admiralty location, shopping mall connection, and access to the MTR and trams make traveling to meetings convenient. The Executive Lounge also works well for informal conversations.

Travelers who enjoy classic luxury: If you prefer established hotels with history and character, Conrad may appeal to you more than a newly built design hotel.

Families: With the pool, Pacific Place, and Hong Kong Park nearby, children have places to burn off energy while adults have plenty of shopping and dining options.

If you’re looking for a central Hong Kong Island location, upscale shopping, and easy transportation, Conrad Hong Kong is a very good fit.

Final Thoughts: 

So, is Conrad Hong Kong good? Based on my stay, yes. 

Its convenient Admiralty location, spacious rooms, impressive Peak views, and attentive service make it a strong choice for travelers who appreciate the comfort and character of a classic five-star hotel.

I think Conrad Hong Kong is worth the splurge if location, space, and traditional hospitality matter more to you than contemporary design. However, travelers who prefer sleek interiors and the latest in-room amenities may find the décor and fixtures a little dated for the price.

For me, the most memorable part of the stay was sitting beside the large window in my room and looking out over the green slopes of Victoria Peak. After drinks in the Executive Lounge and champagne brunch the next day, I was reminded that even in fast-paced Hong Kong, it is still possible to slow down and simply enjoy being a traveler. 😺💕
